This cemetery is located on Hwy 16, in St.Helena Parish. It is an
African-American cemetery. The information was provided to me by Mr. Lee
Warner. There is two names that this cemetery goes by, Mount Zion Free
Will Baptist Church cemetery, named after the church. Also, Bear Creek
Cemetery. Mr. Warner said, " that the land was donate by Mr. Leslie Self
an Anglo-Saxon man. Mr. Self gave
the land to Mr. Caleb Vining. Later after the old man Self, found out
the Caleb Vining was not a member of any church he took the land back
from him and gave it to. Busco Edwards, Andrew Williams, Freddie
Marshall and Wash
Warner. This cemetery sit on 3 acres of land.
Records can be founded in the St. Helena Courthouse.
